About Jana
I have a very tenured team within talent acquisition, and I think what sets our team apart is that we act as consultants to individuals looking to join our firm versus recruiters. My team has come from financial services, they've done the jobs that they're hiring for, and they understand the business. It's coming from a place of abundance, so we're not desperately looking to hire, we're making sure we find the right person to join our firm, whether it's from an executive assistant position to a client service manager, an advisor, or a C-suite executive. We take our time making sure that we have the right fit for them and also for our firm. I try to be a very objective sounding board to people in the industry or even outside the industry. I never - again, it's coming from a place of abundance - tell me about yourself, and what are you looking for? What's your ideal role? And maybe our firm isn't the right fit, and that's okay, but have you met so-and-so at this firm, or have you thought about this? I come across people all the time that say, you know, I'm doing fine, I think I'm okay, or I don't want to make a change because I'm afraid to give up my flexibility or my autonomy, but I'm also missing something. I always encourage people that it's so important that you're continually making connections and building your network, because maybe there isn't something that's better for you at this point in your life, based on where your family's at or where you are personally, but it's always important to make sure you're advocating for yourself and you're building relationships. I always encourage people to network and advocate for themselves, and don't just stay with something because it's just okay if that's not making you a fulfilled and happy person. I'm in my dream job right now. I get to do what I love every single day, and you don't hear that very often.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I always encourage people that it's so important that you're continually making connections and building your network, because maybe there isn't something that's better for you at this point in your life, based on where your family's at or where you are personally, but it's always important to make sure you're advocating for yourself and you're building relationships. And then you're talking about what is your ideal role, because that could be around the corner, and unless you are putting yourself out there, you don't know, and you could be much more fulfilled in more ways than you know. I always encourage people to network and advocate for themselves, and don't just stay with something because it's just okay if that's not making you a fulfilled and happy person. I've spent the last 20 years building my career, but also spending a lot of my career uplifting others, mentoring others, and making sure that women are advocating for themselves and are building businesses and also careers in financial services.
