Her Story

About Janalynn

Janalynn Patino is an emerging financial advisor and military spouse advocate who is passionate about helping families build financial security and long-term stability. Currently serving as a Financial Advisor with GFI Global Financial Impact, Janalynn recently began her journey in the financial industry and is actively expanding her training and expertise in financial planning and wealth-building strategies. Her decision to enter the profession was deeply inspired by her own upbringing and the financial protection her parents created for their family, which gave her a sense of security and stability growing up. Motivated by that experience, she now hopes to help other families create the same peace of mind for future generations. As a military spouse of more than nine years, Janalynn also understands the unique challenges military families face and is committed to serving that community through both financial education and mentorship.

Before transitioning into finance, Janalynn built a diverse professional background across healthcare, childcare, and military family services. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Information Systems from Ashford University and previously worked in medical and caregiving roles, including as a Certified Medical Assistant and Military Family Child Care Provider at Fort Riley Child & Youth Services. These experiences strengthened her skills in communication, adaptability, leadership, and relationship-building while giving her firsthand insight into the importance of service and community support. Her work as a military-spouse volunteer coordinator further deepened her passion for helping others navigate the demands of military life and find opportunities that fit their unique circumstances.

Driven by faith, family, and service, Janalynn hopes to use her growing experience in financial advisory to eventually create more opportunities for military spouses seeking flexible and meaningful careers. She believes many military spouses struggle to find work that balances family responsibilities, deployments, and frequent relocations, and she wants to help change that by sharing both knowledge and opportunity. Outside of work, Janalynn enjoys spending time with family, volunteering, and taking RV camping trips on weekends. Known for her compassionate and purpose-driven approach, she is dedicated to empowering military families, encouraging financial education, and helping others discover purpose and value in their own lives.

Ten minutes with Janalynn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute everything I do to prayer and God. My whole life has always been based on my faith. This job can be very emotional because it is a commission job, so I have my ups and downs. When I feel overwhelmed, I step away for a second and do something differently in my day. I'll say a prayer, I'll go water my grass or something. The great thing about my job is that it's flexible, and with military lifestyle, our husbands leave and have to go to work, and it's not something where you can expect them to be here and help you. When I feel overwhelmed, I just take a break for a second and reflect on my purpose. The company I work with has their 5Fs: faith, family, finance, fitness, and fun. They're very family-oriented and understanding. That's why I love this and what I do. My goal has always been to help people and make them not feel alone. I don't care to be recognized or rewarded. God will take care of that. I love to share my story and make other military spouses feel like they're not alone in their situations.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think it brings a lot of knowledge and education for themselves and their family, and the flexibility it gives for people not to feel like they can't do anything. Being a military spouse or even being a mom can be a bit overwhelming, but this career can help them find themselves in some way. Even if it's low income, it makes them feel like they contribute a bit. I don't like to advise people to do this or do that. Instead, I share what I went through and what I did. I encourage them that they're gonna have bad days and good days. My goal is to make them not feel alone. Everyone has different lifestyles and different ways of living, but if I can share my story and make them feel like they're not alone, that's all that matters. There are different ways that they can make things work when it comes to working from home.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, family, and service are at the center of both my personal life and my work. My faith influences how I communicate, lead, and serve others, with honesty, compassion, transparency, and genuine care. As a military spouse and mother, I deeply value flexibility, purpose, and building a career that moves with military life. I never wanted just “a job.” I wanted meaningful work that allowed me to be present for my family while also making a real impact in the lives of others, especially military families and spouses who often feel overlooked. I strongly believe financial education should be accessible to everyone. Helping families understand life insurance, retirement planning, legacy building, and financial protection is important to me because these are not just financial products — they represent security, peace of mind, and long-term stability for the people we love most. I also value mentorship, leadership, and creating opportunities for others. Whether I’m working with clients, military spouses, or teammates, my goal is always to make people feel supported, welcomed, understood, and empowered. Above all, I believe in building genuine relationships through warm, no-pressure communication so people feel they are talking to someone who truly cares, not simply being sold a service.
