Ten minutes with Janay
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistence, resilience, and the determination to never give up, even when facing challenges. Maintaining a positive mindset, staying committed to my goals, and having the tenacity to push forward have been essential to my growth. I also believe that a willingness to continuously learn, adapt, and embrace new opportunities has played a significant role in my success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to advocate for myself and have confidence in my abilities. Speaking up, recognizing my value, and believing in my skills have helped me pursue opportunities, overcome challenges, and continue growing professionally.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to embrace the learning process and not be afraid to admit when they do not know something. Every experience is an opportunity to grow, develop new skills, and gain confidence. Most importantly, speak up for yourself, share your ideas, and recognize the value you bring to the table.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is navigating a traditionally male-dominated industry. While this can present challenges, it also creates opportunities to bring diverse perspectives, demonstrate leadership, and help pave the way for more women to succeed. By continuing to build expertise, support one another, and advocate for inclusion, we can contribute to a more balanced and innovative industry.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are growth, continuous learning, and the desire to help others thrive. I believe in creating a path forward not only for myself but also for those around me by sharing knowledge, offering support, and inspiring others to reach their full potential. Being a beacon of knowledge means leading with purpose, staying curious, and using my experiences to make a positive impact.
