Janell Briggs
Janell Briggs, MA, NCC is an experienced and compassionate mental health professional with over 22 years in the field. She recently joined Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services as an Outpatient Clinical Therapist, where she provides evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and families. Prior to this role, Janell served as Children’s Clinical Supervisor for 8½ years, developing programs and leading teams focused on enhancing mental health services for young clients. Her extensive experience reflects a deep commitment to fostering positive outcomes and supporting the well-being of those she serves.
Janell’s professional achievements include membership in the National Certified Counselors (NCC) group, reflecting her dedication to maintaining the highest standards in counseling practice. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University (2017) and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services (2007). Inspired to pursue a career in mental health by witnessing the challenges her brother faced with autism, Janell brings both personal insight and professional expertise to her work, driven by a desire to help others navigate complex mental health and developmental challenges.

She enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, camping in nature, and watching movies, which provide balance and renewal in her personal life. What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to establish strong boundaries. Maintaining clear boundaries helps ensure balance, protects your well-being, and allows you to provide your best work without burning out.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is to be patient and stay open-minded, as there are many different paths you can take. Embrace opportunities to learn and grow, and trust that your career journey may unfold in ways you hadn’t anticipated.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are family and support. I strive to foster strong, meaningful connections and provide guidance and encouragement to those around me, creating an environment where people feel valued, understood, and empowered.
