Her Interview

Ten minutes with Janelle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I guess just determination and knowing that, you know, we're all here for a purpose, right? We're all here to accomplish something, to help others, and I believe that's this is my journey. And so that's what's kept me going is this is something I need to do. This is something I need to, I've been put here with these talents, put them to work. I love it.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I had a really great mentor who is an amazing business guy, and the best thing he ever told me is, Janelle, if you're gonna do this, you have to learn and like being chief cook and bottle washer. He says, because in order to be successful, that's what you're gonna have to do. And I always remember that.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Well, you know, starting out, you know, you're gonna have to understand the road is rough. And there's gonna be a lot of no's, but it's the no's that take you to the yes's. And if you become persistent, and, and, and, you know, really che- we, we are teaching things like perseverance. And if you put that in front. it'll keep you going. And you have to understand that it's going to take a lot of no's to get to the yes.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Funding. Yeah. Yeah, funding, it's all because of the economy, but yeah. And the way that we're building things, too, we don't bring investors in because our stuff is, you know, we want to be putting more the most of our money back into the school systems to get them all shifted.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Well. God, he's number one in my life, so, he's my inspiration. And I have very good, great Christian values, and that's how I live.
