About Janelle

Janelle Pangilinan is a Senior Project Manager at the University of Michigan, where she works within the university's Global Engagement Team to lead high-impact projects that advance international engagement across the institution. She initiates, plans, and executes complex projects involving campus partners and diverse project teams, establishing objectives, managing timelines, coordinating deliverables, and building support across university units. Her responsibilities also include campus-wide outreach, promotional materials, website and content management for Global Michigan, and the development of publications highlighting the university's international engagement.

With nearly 15 years of experience across education, academic programming, and international initiatives, Janelle has built a career centered on creating meaningful educational opportunities. Before joining the University of Michigan, she held academic and educational roles at Michigan State University and Millikin University and began her career as a middle school teacher. Her experience includes curriculum integration, education-abroad program management, student recruitment and retention, academic support, intercultural competency training, and faculty-led international programs. She has managed study-abroad portfolios with significant budgets and has led students on international experiences, including trips to London and Peru. In March 2026, she developed the University of Michigan's first fully funded study-abroad program for first-generation students, providing 20 participants with an international educational experience in London.

Janelle's professional approach is grounded in continuous learning, strategic innovation, collaboration, and a desire to make a meaningful difference. She believes that knowledge creates opportunities for growth and encourages others to embrace challenges, remain resilient, and use their voices. Beyond her professional responsibilities, she has contributed to her community as a camp counselor and dance instructor and maintains a strong interest in family, travel, reading, dogs, and snowboarding. Through her work in higher education and international engagement, she continues to focus on developing innovative programs and creating opportunities that help students and institutions grow.
