Her Story

About Janese

Janese Collins serves as a credit customer service representative at TD Bank in Peachland, North Carolina. She began her role in August of last year and was selected for a pilot project supporting Nordstrom credit cards after TD Bank secured a 7-year contract, handling fraud, payments, benefits education, and minor claims. With four years total experience in banking and mortgage, Collins previously worked two years in mortgage servicing at Loan Depot, where she educated customers on escrow, loan types, refinancing eligibility, and closing documents. She obtained her NMLS credential to pursue roles as a loan processor or officer and holds a college diploma in Medical Administration from Ultimate Medical Academy, earned in November 2016. Collins is currently completing a bachelor's degree through a partnership with Water University. She attributes her success to her faith in God and family support system, values quality management and people in the workplace, and volunteers at nursing homes and group homes. Collins advises being bold on one's journey and encourages young women in the industry to be proactive through reading, seminars, and networking.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Janese

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'm a firm believer of God and faith. A lot of my successes came from just trusting God and my support system with my family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

On any journey that you're on, you're gonna make mistakes, but you have to be bold on your journey. Without boldness, you can never overcome fear, failure, and mistakes.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be proactive, read, find articles, connect with people, go to seminars, connect, read, and educate. Even if you decide you don't want to work this for the rest of your life, you'll still be an asset to yourself and others. Make sure they're not getting taken advantage of and getting the best rate and correct treatment.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges are high interest rates everywhere with mortgage. Getting people to still purchase because people are stuck between living in apartments or with family, but rates won't stay high forever. Take the risk to get a house now and refinance later rather than paying rising rent with no ownership.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In work, good quality people. It's not always about the salary or position. It's about having good management that understands you are a person just like them. Give your time, energy, and mental energy to the job.
