What do you attribute your success to?
Janet attributes her success to a strong family foundation: her father’s military influence, her mother’s self-reliance and the support of family and community. She notes resilience from parenting as a single mother, for several years, and having the support of her husband and blended family. This she attributes as central to her achievements.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Show up, do the hard work, even if you're tired. Because there is always someone that is hungrier than you.
Don't feign being helpless....woman are very strong!
Remember there are people out there that are worse off then you, so be humble and kind.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
She advises perseverance, tenacity and assertiveness. She encourages women to discover their potential by taking the first steps and to remember that attitude determines altitude. Always ask the questions, there are NO dumb questions!
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges: working in a male-dominated, blue-collar industry where leaders must balance assertiveness with empathy to manage field technicians. Opportunities: substantial company growth and room for professional advancement within the sector.
