Her Interview
Ten minutes with Janice
01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, I'm just going to say hard work. Not being afraid to go tackle a problem and be part of the solution. Don't sit back and wait for someone else to fix something for you. If you see something that needs to be fixed, fix it. From a sales perspective, be passionate about the product you're selling and know it and understand it. Don't just go out and be a salesperson, but really know the product you're selling and be able to stand behind it.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Early on, it was show up early and don't be looking at the clock ready to leave right at 5 o'clock. Be willing to work and care. I care about the job I do and how I impact people and relationships. Remember that operations folks are the reason we get where we are.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You have to have thick skin and learn to play with the boys. As long as you are not afraid to go out there and stand up for yourself, you can be successful. Fight for what you believe in. Don't get intimidated. I accomplish it by knowing sports, which enables conversations with men.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I think just the integrity and trust that you have in the relationships you have. I want people to know they can trust me in anything they tell me. I'm a vault. If someone tells me something in confidence, they can trust I'm gonna get them the right answer or go find it.
