Janice Shipe-Spotloe is an accomplished healthcare leader with over three decades of experience as a Physician Assistant and executive professional. Currently, she serves as the Director of Advanced Practice Providers at West Virginia University Health Systems, where she has led efforts to enhance clinical practice, optimize team performance, and support the professional growth of advanced practice clinicians for more than 11 years. Her deep expertise in family and emergency medicine informs her strategic approach to healthcare delivery and workforce development.
Prior to her leadership role at West Virginia University, Janice dedicated more than 23 years as a Physician Assistant with University of Pittsburgh Physicians, providing comprehensive patient care and contributing to multidisciplinary teams. Her clinical background and leadership have uniquely positioned her to bridge clinical excellence with operational management, ensuring high-quality care across diverse healthcare settings.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to over 37 years of experience as a Physician Assistant, with a strong clinical foundation in internal medicine and subspecialties such as hematology/oncology and immunology. My work in translational research, particularly in immunology and biologic therapeutics, has also played a key role in shaping my career and deepening my expertise in patient care and innovation.
