Her Story

About Janie

I've been in healthcare since high school, which means over 20 years of experience in this field. Currently, I work on the sales side, but I also do private duty and clinical work. My role involves networking, community outreach events, and building relationships with other home care companies, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and doctors' offices. What really drives me is my passion for helping people, especially seniors. I love giving back to the community, and even though I'm in sales, I try to partner with facilities and sponsor events for seniors to provide companionship and support. It's one of those natural gifts I have. I'm actually going back to school next year for nursing because this is truly a calling for me. My faith, particularly my relationship with Jesus, is what keeps me going and guides my work.

Ten minutes with Janie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my sheer tenacity. I'm a go-getter and I'm very competitive. I'm a doer and I like to get things done. I'm solution and goal-driven, and even if I don't have the solution at that moment, I will find it. That mentality of pushing forward and not giving up is what has driven my success.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

When you have a passion for something, that passion will stick with you, so don't ever give up. Even if it means going back to school, never think you're too old to go back to school, because a calling is a calling. If it is a passion for you, through all of the challenges, let it continue to fulfill you and be a lifelong learner. If this is for you, let yourself grow. Don't let fear guide you either, but let God prepare you and open the doors that are the right opportunity.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith is the most important value to me. My relationship with Jesus and my faith is what keeps me going in everything I do. I'm also all about people respecting boundaries, which is very huge for me. I believe that with true integrity comes boundaries, and if an opportunity is meant for you, it wouldn't cross those boundaries anyway. I try to remember that anxiety and confusion are not for me, and when I'm feeling too confused, I take a step back, take deep breaths, and try to center myself. I also value being kinder to myself, because sometimes I'm so hard on myself that I need to give myself more grace. When I put myself down, I remind myself that I'm made in the image of God, and He created me, so I should be nicer to myself.
