Ten minutes with Janie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success primarily to perseverance. I have faced many challenges throughout my life, but I continued pursuing my education, earning degrees, and tackling difficult milestones such as the CPA exam, bar exam, and dissertation defense. These experiences taught me the value of resilience and never giving up.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Choose a discipline you genuinely enjoy and feel passionate about, especially if you plan to research and teach it throughout your career. Most importantly, be a lifelong learner and remain open to growth and new opportunities.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My most important values are making a positive impact, acting ethically, and leading with empathy. I see my students as future leaders, so I strive to model a “how can I help?” mindset and hope they carry those values forward.
