Her Interview
Ten minutes with Janine
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the experiences I've had, the mentors and sponsors I've known, and my upbringing. I am the same person I have always been and never changed who I am. I never stepped on anyone to get ahead and always gave things a lot of thought before taking action. I surround myself with people who are smarter than me and value the energy and effort I put in.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Know that you belong. Know your space but also know that your career is what you make of it - it's limitless. Constantly reinvent yourself like Madonna. Surround yourself with mentors early on but more importantly sponsors who will speak about you when you're not in the room.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Know your worth and know what you know but also acknowledge what you don't and acquire what you need. Understand that your potential is limitless. Identify your strengths and weaknesses and concentrate on the opportunities. Never stop growing.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Treat those around you as you want to be treated. Think about all interactions and how I showed up, then rectify any wrong immediately. Treat others with respect, kindness, and empathy. Build an environment where people can thrive.
