She later transitioned into shooting commercials for smaller businesses. Her work is heavily focused in the beauty industry, where she creates commercials for hair extension brands. She also does freelance work and is expanding into the food and beverage industry by producing content such as social media reels and ads for upcoming brands, including a client that makes cold brews. Cinematography is a male-dominated field, and she enjoys working with other women in the industry. She attributes her success to her passion for the work and setting short-term and long-term goals.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Janise

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think really what drives my career path is just my passion. I really love what I do, and I don't think I would do it if I didn't love it, if I didn't have like a passion for it, for sure. And also just given myself like just short-term and long-term goals, and so far I think I've literally surprised my own self.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think the best learning experience now that I'm like you know I just turned [AGE] this year. I think literally just go for what you want. I feel like a lot of people hesitate on their career path. The goal is too hard to obtain and I just feel like there's no such thing. You just gotta keep trying and you don't give up. Once it gets hard because it will get hard that's when you gotta try even harder. So for the most part I think just go for it and don't give up don't be discouraged. Be it's okay to be scared but do it scared. Do it anyway because a lot of people let that fear stop them from you know getting their blessings and stuff.
