Her Story

About Jantae’

Scott transformed what began as a passion and side business into a full-time career, building her brand from the ground up and creating her own path in the beauty industry. Her older sister, a producer, screenwriter, and director, recognized her artistic talent early on and encouraged her to pursue makeup professionally, later opening the door for Scott to bring her artistry into the world of film.

As a mother of five, Scott considers motherhood one of her greatest accomplishments and remains intentional about balancing ambition with family. That same sense of purpose carries into her work, where she prioritizes professionalism, sanitation, integrity, and the energy surrounding every project she accepts. She firmly believes that not every opportunity is the right opportunity and not all money is good money, choosing instead to build a career that aligns with her values, creativity, and long-term vision.

Ten minutes with Jantae’

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to having the courage to believe in myself, remain consistent, and keep going even when the path wasn’t clear. My sister has also been one of my greatest influences. She recognized something in me before I fully recognized it in myself and continuously encouraged me, saying, “You’re talented. Why not? Don’t stop.” She later introduced me to the film industry, which opened an entirely new avenue for my artistry. Her belief planted the seed, but my determination, work ethic, and willingness to step outside of my comfort zone have allowed it to grow.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received actually came from my own experiences: life is limitless. Do all the things. Give whatever you start your all, and see it through. But also know when a chapter has served its purpose and don’t be afraid to try something new. You can reinvent yourself at any moment. Believe in yourself, trust your abilities, and go full force.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You don’t have to be perfect to start. Perfection comes with time, practice, and putting in the footwork. Start where you are and keep going. Don’t get discouraged by someone else’s numbers, followers, opportunities, or how far ahead they may appear to be. Your journey is your own, and you’ll get there if you’re willing to put in the work. Stay consistent, keep learning, and never let comparison convince you that you’re behind.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of my biggest challenges is finding balance between motherhood, entrepreneurship, and the demands of the film industry. As a mother of five, I have to be intentional about the opportunities I accept and how I use my time. That may mean my path looks different from someone who can say yes to everything, but I’ve learned that different doesn’t mean behind. The opportunities continue to come, doors continue to open, and I’m building a career that allows me to pursue my purpose without sacrificing what matters most to me.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my personal life, I’m a mother first. It’s important to me that my children feel seen, supported, and always know that no amount of success or opportunity will ever come before them. In my professional life, I value integrity, professionalism, and excellence. I don’t believe in cutting corners, especially when it comes to sanitation, the quality of my work, or how I treat the people I work with. I’m also very intentional about the energy and environments I allow myself into. I’ve learned that every opportunity isn’t meant for me, and not all money is good money. Success means more to me when I can be proud of not only what I’ve accomplished, but how I accomplished it.
