Her Story
About Jasmin
Jasmin Davis works in tech sales, cybersecurity sales, or the AI space. She credits her success to her education outside of Howard and her ongoing yearning for continuous knowledge, noting that having experienced and older mentors in her corner allows them to pour wisdom into her when she remains curious and asks questions. This knowledge and wisdom help her create the life she envisions for herself. Davis emphasizes the importance of integrity by never going against her morals, being genuine especially in sales to build trust with prospects, and being compassionate by having an open heart to understand when others are having a bad day. She advises young women entering her male-dominated field not to feel like they do not belong despite imposter syndrome, to recognize their value and purpose, to avoid letting others dim their light, to always ask questions to grow knowledge, and to hold space and take up space in their industries. One of the biggest challenges she sees is finding people open to the AI space, as many remain reluctant or hold skewed perceptions, requiring a balance of caring about impact while immersing oneself and clarifying those perceptions. Outside of her professional pursuits, Davis gives back to the community through her boxing gym by creating charity spars where ticket proceeds support chosen charities, a value instilled in her from Howard.

Ten minutes with Jasmin
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my education and the yearning for continuous knowledge. Having people that are more experienced and older than you in your corner helps, as they want to pour into you when you're curious and asking questions. That knowledge and wisdom allows you to create the life you see for yourself.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received is don't be afraid to fail. There's no progression without failure. I used to not enjoy failing but now I look forward to it because failure is the only way to learn.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For young women entering tech sales, cybersecurity sales, or the AI space, don't feel like you don't belong. Imposter syndrome is real but you're there for a reason and you hold value. Don't let anybody dim your light. Always ask questions to grow your knowledge. Hold space and take up space in your industries.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge right now is finding people who are open to the AI space. There are people interested but also many who are reluctant or adverse with skewed perceptions of what AI is. It's about balancing caring about the impact while immersing yourself and clarifying perceptions around AI.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are integrity, being genuine, and being compassionate. Integrity means never going against your morals as it reflects in your character. Being genuine is important especially in sales to build trust. Being compassionate means having an open heart and understanding when someone is having a bad day.
