Her Story
About Jasmin
I am passionate about human-animal conflict and how to reduce that tension through animal ethic conservation. Throughout my academic career, I developed a niche in qualitative coding and QGIS, which has allowed me to assist in many different projects. This includes assessing the attitudes and demographics revolving around environmental monitoring, as well as doing research in the marine ecosystem. In my work, I go out into either the marine environment or the terrestrial environment and set up environmental monitoring technology, including things like buoys or weather monitoring systems that are solar-powered, which we track online so you can actually look at it on your phone. I also take news articles centering around our work and put them through qualitative coding software, which gives me a lot of insight into how people feel about environmental monitoring. My most notable professional achievement is working on the Coastal Observation Fellowship, which monitors environmental sites. This is something I initially did not think I would get interested in, but it has become a major plus in my career.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My career advisors essentially said it's both what you know and who you know in this current day and age. If I can get as much word about my professional achievements out there, maybe I can take a stab at different roles and immerse myself in my field.
