Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I think a lot of perseverance. I want to say that I was passed up a few times for promotions, I want to say 3 times, when I initially got into when I finished nursing school. And even prior to that, I was rejected, right? And with rejection comes like discouragement. And I kept pushing forward, like I said, I kept saying like I'm gonna do this, I want this. And I was very receptive to the feedback that they gave me, so everything that they gave me, I took it and made it better, or tried to fulfill the things that they were stating that I needed to work on while doing. And that I learned a lot about me, you know? And eventually, I met with success, so I don't know if that would work for everybody, but it worked for me.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received has come from mentors like Calandra, Monique, and Rosalind, who gave me honest feedback, strong guidance, and the push I needed to grow beyond my perceived limitations.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think for me, the advice I would give is that truly to stay with a positive mindset. And then ensure that the goals that they set are achievable, as long as they keep that mindset. Like, I think that that's the most important thing. Negativity will bring you down, right? So you have to keep pushing forward and stay positive even when facing rejection or discouragement.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think as I get closer to the top, I think it's a very male-dominated field. So for me, I face that challenge all the time, so setting yourself apart, even being female versus male, I think it's just trying to set ourself apart as why we bring the equal amount of things, right? Because I think there's this misconception that most women that are in executive levels are emotional. When truly, we know how to keep that at bay, too, just like a man does, right? So I think that there's a lot of misconceptions, so trying to get past those things and moving those barriers out the way so that I can meet with success.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Perseverance, integrity, and continuous growth are the values that guide both my work and personal life. I believe in maintaining a strong mindset, leading with purpose, and staying committed to becoming better—both professionally and personally.

Outside of work, I value spending quality time with my family, especially taking trips to places like Disney, and I’m passionate about mentoring youth through sports such as volleyball and soccer. I’m also excited about entrepreneurship and hope to launch a beauty business with my daughters, combining my love for family with building something meaningful together.
