Her Story

About Jasmine

My career did not follow a traditional path, and that is one of the things I am most proud of. I spent many years as a wife and stay-at-home mother before returning to the workforce and beginning to build something of my own.

My professional background began in the restaurant industry, where I learned how to connect with people, solve problems quickly, manage pressure, and create memorable experiences. I also worked as a cake designer, which gave me an early outlet for creativity, detail, balance, and turning someone’s vision into something tangible. Looking back, those experiences were preparing me for the career I have now more than I realized at the time.

Three years ago, I transitioned into the building and design industry, combining technical product knowledge with creative problem-solving for homeowners, designers, and contractors. I found a career that challenged me, excited me, and gave me room to discover strengths I did not know I had.

Today, I serve as a Kitchen & Bath Showroom Consultant at Plumb Supply Company. I specialize in plumbing fixture specification, innovative shower design, project coordination, and helping customers create spaces that are both beautiful and functional. My design style is elegant modern minimalism. I believe a space can feel luxurious without being excessive, and that thoughtful details often make the strongest statement.

At 40, I am also a single mother raising a premature infant while continuing to build my career and create stability for my family. I am working hard to have everything I once believed I had to choose between: motherhood, financial independence, professional success, creativity, and a life that feels fully my own. I do not believe women should have to make themselves smaller to be devoted mothers, and I do not believe starting over means starting from nothing.

As the only woman in my branch, I bring a perspective that is still underrepresented in many areas of construction, building, and design. I am not afraid to ask questions, challenge conventional ideas, or suggest a better way to accomplish something. I believe technical knowledge and creativity belong together, and I hope my career encourages more women to confidently enter these industries and pursue leadership within them.

Outside of my professional work, I have served on the Madrid Parks and Recreation Board, created the Egg My Yard Easter program for local families, participated in community theater, and continued writing a book of raw, journalistic poetry about my life and experiences.

I did not have everything figured out at 20, 30, or even 35. I started over, kept learning, and discovered that sometimes your next chapter begins when you stop asking whether you are allowed to want more—and start building it.

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from gratitude and stubbornness. I often joke that I can’t disappoint my ancestors, but there is a lot of truth behind that. Women fought for generations so I could have choices they never had—the ability to build a career, support myself, invest, lead, and define success on my own terms. I refuse to waste those sacrifices.

When life gets hard, I remind myself that I am standing on the shoulders of women who endured far more than I ever will. Their courage created opportunities for me, and I feel a responsibility to make the most of them—not only for myself, but for my daughters, my son, and the generations who will come after us.

I hope my daughters see a woman who found her voice, built a career, and never stopped growing. I hope my son grows up respecting strong women and expecting them to lead beside him. If I can open one more door or make the path a little easier for another woman, then I have honored the women who opened doors for me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received wasn't actually advice—it was someone believing in me before I believed in myself.

When I left the restaurant industry, I honestly thought I would end up at Menards selling drills. Cindy saw something in me that I couldn't yet see in myself and encouraged me to interview for a kitchen and bath position instead. During that interview, I remember telling her, "I'm terrible at math. I don't know fractions very well." She smiled and said, "We'll teach you."

That moment changed my life. It taught me that skills can be learned, but curiosity, work ethic, and a willingness to grow are much harder to teach. Every experience I had before that—from being a stay-at-home mom, to working in restaurants, to cake decorating—gave me skills I still use every day.

I've learned to ask questions, stay curious, and never limit myself to what fits neatly inside my job description. Your career doesn't have to follow a straight line to become successful. Sometimes all it takes is one person believing in you before you believe in yourself, and having the courage to say yes to an opportunity that scares you

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Build your own life before building one with someone else. Invest in your education, your career, and your financial independence. Learn who you are before marriage or starting a family. Save money, invest, and develop skills that no one can take away from you.

Don't be intimidated by industries where women are underrepresented. Ask questions, learn the technical side of the business, and never underestimate the value of your perspective. Women belong in construction, design, leadership, and every room where important decisions are being made.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in the kitchen and bath industry is helping bridge the gap between beautiful design and practical function. Homeowners have more inspiration than ever, but they also need knowledgeable professionals who can guide them through technical decisions, budgeting, and product selection.

I also believe there is tremendous opportunity for more women to enter plumbing, construction, and design. Diverse perspectives lead to better solutions, stronger teams, and spaces that better serve the people who use them.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, resilience, curiosity, and independence guide everything I do. I believe in treating people honestly, continuing to learn, and helping others make informed decisions. Personally, I value financial independence and lifelong growth because they create opportunities not only for ourselves but for future generations.
