Jasmine Stevenson-Jacobs
Jasmine Stevenson-Jacobs is a healthcare professional, entrepreneur, and emerging leader in Health Information Management (HIM) with over a decade of experience in healthcare administration. After building a strong foundation in the healthcare industry, she discovered HIM and quickly developed a passion for the field, recognizing both its importance and the lack of awareness surrounding it. Motivated by her expertise and a desire to fill critical gaps, Jasmine launched her own consulting business to support small and mid-sized practices that often lack the time, resources, or knowledge to effectively manage their health information systems.
As an independent consultant, Jasmine provides specialized HIM and healthcare administration services with a hands-on, accessible approach. She offers high-level expertise at a more flexible and cost-effective rate than larger firms, helping organizations improve efficiency, compliance, and overall operations. Her work is driven by both skill and purpose—educating others about HIM while delivering real, measurable impact for her clients. In just under a year, her business has gained strong momentum, reinforcing the growing need for her services in an evolving healthcare landscape.
Expanding her vision even further, Jasmine recently founded HX Connection, a dedicated networking platform for professionals in Healthcare Administration, HIM, Healthcare IT, and Public Health. Launched with immediate traction and a rapidly growing membership, the platform reflects her commitment to building community, fostering collaboration, and creating opportunities within a niche that has long been underserved. A natural entrepreneur with a creative mindset, Jasmine continues to balance innovation with execution—building businesses, empowering others, and shaping the future of healthcare connectivity.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my family and the go-getter mindset that was instilled in me from an early age. I was raised to believe that the answer is always going to be “no” unless you ask, so I’ve never been afraid to put myself out there and pursue opportunities. That mindset has pushed me to take initiative, stay persistent, and continuously challenge myself to grow.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve received came from both my mother and a professor: you have to ask for what you want, and you can’t be afraid of hearing “no.” Rejection is part of the process, and often it’s what leads you to the right “yes.” Once I embraced that, it changed how I approached opportunities and helped me move forward with more confidence.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If you have an idea, start by writing it down and bringing it to life. Hold yourself accountable and take action, even if you don’t feel fully ready. You’re never going to feel 100% prepared, and that’s okay. Start anyway, learn as you go, and give yourself permission to grow through the process instead of waiting for the “perfect” moment.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is that Health Information Management is still under-recognized, and many smaller practices don’t have the resources or understanding to fully support it. At the same time, that creates a huge opportunity for independent consultants like myself to step in and provide accessible, expert guidance. There’s also a growing need for platforms that educate and connect professionals in this space, which is something I’m actively working to build.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me are family, initiative, persistence, and accountability. I also believe strongly in supporting other women and creating spaces where we can grow and succeed together. Those principles shape how I show up in both my personal life and my work every day.
