Her Story

About Jaycie

I have been in the staffing industry for about a year and a couple of months, and I've been in my current position for about two months. Before entering this field, I was a preschool teacher for about six years, working before COVID, during, and afterwards. My career naturally led me from teaching into Education staffing, particularly after I pivoted during my undergrad to work with public policy. In my previous staffing role, I staffed teachers and learned about the policies for each state and county to best serve the needs for the kids. Now, in my current role, I contact clients - hospitals, medical centers, and different facilities - to see if they are open to a partnership with the company I work with. We help them fill any of their hard-to-fill,

and short term coverage needs, roles with doctors or any kind of specialties within the medical field. I'm building rapport and relationships with clients and identifying the point of contact, while helping these facilities get the best care for their patients. I'm a people person at heart, and I love the research, and personal connection, that comes from learning about the facilities, medical specialties, and what their needs are.

Ten minutes with Jaycie

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success is attributed not just from my own determination to succeed but from the support of the people around me. My parents have always believed in me even when I doubted myself. My husband and his parents have been in my corner cheering me on and encouraging me to do what I love every day. And my friends are the best parts of me. Without them all of this wouldn’t be possible. All of them are parts of me and I am always so grateful to be so lucky to have them.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever been given is that if you’ve come this far, why stop now? Life isn’t easy and no one said it would be. So why not keep moving forward, pushing, and doing what makes you happy and successful. You are what matters in your life at the end of the day, so why stop now?

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them to give themselves grace. This industry is evolving and changing and moving forward fast. There’s always more to learn, more connections to make, but don’t lose yourself in the process of trying to do it all. Stay true to who you are and give yourself grace and you will always be successful.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I believe one of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is that everyone in the process, recruiters, client search consultants, managers and specialists all have the opportunity to place wonderful providers in facilities that need the help. We place great people to take care of patients the same way as if we were hiring them to take care of our own families. Who takes care of you matters.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I believe that networking and visibility are incredibly important because the world is hard enough to make your way in. Growing up, I learned that it's okay to ask for help, or if you need a little bit of help, or even if you just want to reach out to someone next to you to say, hey, I can do this, you can do this, let's do it together. I love the personal aspect of connecting with people. I'm a people person, just in general, so I love talking to people and learning about them. Even if we don't connect on a professional level or a personal one, it's nice to kind of have a little bit of everybody in your life, because you don't really know what you're going to learn. I'm grateful for anything that the world works out for me.
