Her Story
About Jayla
I'm focused on empowering people to use AI and helping them understand what this technology can and cannot do. A lot of people are afraid of AI, but I believe the best way to get in front of it and grow with this technology is being knowledgeable about it. I also want to lean into empowering humans to recognize their own unique things that this technology will never be able to do - things like leadership, mentorship, and those more intimate, empathetic moments that humans have. I have goals of being my own owner of a product or service for people, getting more people access to resources, access to knowledge and information, and more experiences. I'm at a point in my career where I'm not necessarily junior, but I'm not super senior either - this is that growth and visibility time for me. I have the experience now, and it's about showing the world that I can help them in a way that's meaningful.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I give my mentors 100% credit. They have put me in rooms that I wouldn't have even thought about for myself. I definitely have a lot of female mentors, though I do have male mentors too. But my female ones, they ride - I really appreciate it. I also believe that relationships are at the core of everything. My relationship with my faith and all the relationships I've built and nurtured have been incredibly important. I reach back to mentors that I met back in college who have connected me with opportunities that I have now. If you stay true to those things and nurture those relationships the way they need to be nurtured, they will definitely work to benefit you in the future.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would give them the advice that relationships are currency. The relationships that you form from day one mean a lot, and every relationship you continue to pour into and build after that is important as well. I reach back to mentors that I met back in college who have connected me with opportunities that I have now, and even my relationship with my faith - all of those things matter. I feel like relationships are the core of all of those, and if you stay true to those things and nurture those relationships the way they need to be nurtured, they will definitely work to benefit you in the future.
