Her Story

About Jazlyn

Jazlyn Nangayi is a communication strategist, public speaker, podcast host, and founder of Living in Legacy. Her work explores what it means to lead mindfully and use your voice with intention. Her work sits at the intersection of business, faith, and leadership. As founder of Living in Legacy, she created the Living in Legacy (LVLG) Podcast, a platform exploring leadership, entrepreneurship, education, and personal growth through conversations with university presidents, nonprofit leaders, and students. The show gained rapid traction, drawing tens of thousands of views across Instagram and Spotify within its first weeks, and Jazlyn has since managed every aspect of its production, from guest coordination and content development to multi-platform distribution.

As host of the Living in Legacy (LVLG) Podcast, Jazlyn sits down with leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, and community changemakers to explore the experiences, decisions, and lessons that have shaped their journeys. The platform has reached tens of thousands of viewers across digital channels and reflects Jazlyn’s larger mission: creating conversations that encourage people to think differently about who they are, how they lead, and what they leave behind. That mission also comes to life on stage. Jazlyn has delivered keynotes, workshops, and spoken-word performances for audiences across multiple states, drawing from her professional expertise, Christian faith, and personal experiences with adversity. Whether addressing confidence, culture, communication, or leadership, she is known for creating space for honest conversations that move people from reflection to action. Professionally, Jazlyn serves as a Communications and Marketing Lead for Central Michigan University’s UNITY project and contributes to the development of the annual UNITY Summit. She also works through Living in Legacy with organizations and teams navigating culture, conflict, team dynamics, and brand engagement.

Jazlyn’s drive started long before her professional career. A first-generation college graduate, she began college at just fifteen years old. She went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Oakland Community College with an Associate of Arts in Communication before earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship with a minor in Management from Central Michigan University. Her work has since been recognized by the Oakland County Times, CMU Life, and Vicksburg Daily News.

For Jazlyn, Living in Legacy is more than the name of a company or podcast. It represents the question at the center of her work: not simply what you will accomplish, but what will change because you were here?

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jazlyn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith, my resourcefulness, and my commitment to building strong character. I have always been willing to pursue new possibilities without waiting for permission, and that mindset has carried me through every stage of my journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received came from Sergeant Mosley, who told me to "do things afraid." That lesson taught me that courage isn't the absence of fear, but the willingness to act in spite of it, and it has helped me move forward through uncertainty time and again with faith.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering this industry not to second-guess themselves and to trust their instincts. Be resourceful, even when resources feel limited, and know that it is possible to build a meaningful career while also building a family. Keep moving forward and do things that seem "beyond your reach" even when you're afraid-you'd be surprised at what you are capable of when you give yourself space and a chance to fail, learn, and try again.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I see is managing cross-cultural team dynamics and strengthening organizational culture, particularly in understanding the international student experience. I also see this as a significant opportunity to expand organizational development and consulting work into larger corporate settings without limiting the possibilities or core of a person's passion and contributions.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are faith, character, vulnerability, community, authenticity, and creativity. These principles guide how I show up both professionally and personally.
