About Jazmin
Jazmin Babers serves as an assistant manager at a licensed hair store, a position she has maintained for nearly two years. Her career in the hair industry spans many years, beginning as a hairstylist at Great Clips, advancing to full-service salons, and eventually working independently. The physical demands of hairstyling, including neuropathy pain, prompted her transition to management, where she sought a role with improved benefits while pregnant. In her current role, she engages with brands for product demos, offers expertise on sales trends, trains staff, and oversees store operations. Jazmin takes pride in mentoring and helping others advance in their careers, drawing from her own path that emphasized learning beyond formal education through skills like men's cuts, wigs, and extensions. She continues to pursue opportunities in customer service and brand work that allow her to balance her professional life with family responsibilities.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
What you learn in school is not everything for any job. You don't learn until you're out of school. I am glad I did a lot of men's cuts after school, because they don't teach you that. Always do something that you don't learn, like men's cuts, or wigs, or extensions. They're not going to teach you all of that in school. You gotta start from the bottom, you have to put your years in before you can get to where I was, because I started out like a Great Clips, and then worked up to full service slowly, and then ended up doing independent. You gotta do your time.
