Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jean

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a deep commitment to lifelong learning and the ability to adapt and grow across every stage of my career. With over 35 years in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industry, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in diverse roles—from medical technologist, regulatory affairs specialist, Associate General Counsel to SVP, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at organizations like Ferring Pharmaceuticals, The Vitamin Shoppe, Biomotiv, NovaDel Pharma. My legal foundation was further shaped by leading the Food and Drug Practice at Fox Rothschild LLP, which ultimately inspired my transition into independent consulting, where I continue to support clients with strategic, compliant, and business-focused solutions..

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the legal and life sciences industries is to stay curious and never stop learning. The legal landscape is constantly evolving, so it's essential to read extensively and remain adaptable to change. Most importantly, avoid complacency—maintaining a growth mindset will help you navigate challenges, seize new opportunities, and build a fulfilling, resilient career.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is building a new client base after transitioning from corporate roles to independent consulting. Without a pre-existing book of business, I’ve had to rely on networking, reputation, and strategic outreach to establish new relationships. While it’s been demanding, it has also created opportunities to work with a diverse range of clients and build a practice aligned with my values and expertise.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Balance, discipline, and passion are values that guide both my professional and personal life. I believe in showing up with focus and integrity, while also making space for the things that bring me joy—whether that’s staying active through spin classes and golf, or connecting with music through piano and live performances. My Maine Coons, Beethoven and Dolly, are constant companions and a reminder to stay grounded and present, no matter where work takes me.
