Her Story
About Jeanette
I started unintentionally while studying business in Germany as a single mom needing work. A temp job as assistant at a leading network station led me to producing entertainment content. I rose to executive producer assistant, produced a daily documentary show and a primetime TV series called Baywatch in the Alps for 5 seasons. I became a film producer, won a green card lottery, immigrated to the US, and built a niche in independent film financing up to $30M budgets outside the studio system. I finance and produce films and TV/streaming content through Alliance Cinema where I am CEO, with credits involving A-list talent like Halle Berry and Adrian Brody. I teach film finance at UCLA Extension and mentor through Producers Guild of America and Stage 32.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The Hollywood industry is difficult but rewarding if you are creative, have strong business sense, are fearless, determined and not lazy. Learn what makes a good story as that is what we sell. Grow a thick skin and do not fear rejection - use it to improve. Be open to criticism without taking it personally. Network with female and male producers. Being a woman is not a negative and can even be preferred for better instincts. Work hard, use opportunities, and collaborate as it is team-driven.
