About Jeani

Jeani Wheeling serves as a property manager for a storage facility, a position she has held for almost three years. She travels nationwide to cover other locations as needed, with Wyoming standing out as her favorite due to its scenery. Prior to this role, Jeani spent roughly fifteen years in human resources before the 2008 economic crash led her to Florida, where she worked her way up at McDonald's from crew member to kitchen manager and assistant general manager after attending Hamburger University alongside a former colleague who later recruited her into self-storage. She emphasizes integrity, honesty, and taking pride in one's work as core values. In her personal time, Jeani crochets blankets that she donates to NICUs and to a nonprofit tenant who distributes items to families in need. Her best career advice is to bring a possible solution whenever presenting a problem.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jeani

01What do you attribute your success to?

Sheer determination, when I'm told I can't do it, I have to prove them wrong.

My parents and I were told by a HS guidance counselor that I wasn't worth educating, I was too pretty and that I'd be married and having babies straight out of HS. My parent's believed him, I was beyond mortified and my straight A's went to barely passing. After graduation, some friends and I got into some minor trouble with the law. My parents stated that they expected as much. Anger raged inside of me, and I was determined to prove them wrong. I climbed 2 separate corporate ladders earning high ranking titles. One as an HR Rep in manufacturing and Assistant GM in the restaurant industry.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

If you're bringing a problem to the table, bring a possible solution.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in yourself, set high standards and achieve them, even when it seems impossible.

Don't accept shallow praise, prove your worth.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is most important. If you don't have an ounce of honesty or pride in what you're doing, then you don't need to be in the position. Taking pride in what you're doing.
