Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my drive and determination. I don't give up on anything that I set my eyes on - I want to be great at it, and I don't stop until I'm good at what I'm doing or at learning new tasks. Whether it's mastering a new responsibility or pushing through challenges, I just keep going until I achieve what I'm aiming for. That persistence and commitment to excellence has been the key to everything I've accomplished.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Master your emotions!!!

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice would be to try lots of things and put your everything into whatever you do. Think outside the box, because sometimes you would have never expected to go some of the places that you wind up. Don't shut yourself off from any opportunities - you never know where they might lead you. I certainly never imagined I'd end up in automotive service management after working in restaurants and healthcare, but staying open to new possibilities changed everything for me.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is winning people back from independent shops and trying to sell them on the value of coming to a dealership versus saving a little bit of money right now by going to an independent shop. I feel like we add a lot more value to our services than non-dealership places, and it's just hard marketing to people, especially when the economy is not in the greatest state. The opportunity lies in showing customers the extra support and services available to them through the dealership, but getting that message across in tough economic times is definitely a challenge.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are honesty, integrity, and treating people with kindness. I believe in doing what you say you're going to do, and even if it's not the easiest thing - even if you have to admit your mistakes - just owning up to that is crucial. Being honest and having integrity, no matter what the situation, and treating people kindly and simply - those are the principles I live by in both my work and personal life.
