About Jeanne

Jeanne Bynum Hipes is Managing Trial Counsel at Hipes Law LLC in Alpharetta, Georgia, where she has practiced law for more than four decades. Following her early professional experience with NASA and her legal education at the University of Virginia School of Law, she served as Assistant General Counsel for Lockheed Martin Corporation, gaining extensive experience in complex business contracts, litigation, risk management, and strategic legal matters. She later established Hipes Law LLC, where she has built a distinguished practice focused on employment law, litigation, mediation, and arbitration.

For more than two decades, Hipes has concentrated on representing executives, professionals, and businesses in complex employment and business disputes. Her practice has included advocating for clients who sought religious accommodations and stood by their religious convictions during the COVID-19 era, as well as handling matters involving employment agreements, noncompete provisions, severance, discrimination, fiduciary responsibilities, and business disputes. Among her notable accomplishments is securing a $5.6 million court judgment for a client. She holds a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and she is a Registered Neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, with additional training in mediation, arbitration, negotiation, and leadership.

Hipes attributes her professional success to diligence, integrity, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to her clients. She believes in treating every client with the same care, compassion, and dedication she would extend to a member of her own family, particularly when guiding them through challenging and consequential litigation. Her approach combines rigorous legal advocacy with genuine concern for the people she represents, allowing her to pursue meaningful outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Ten minutes with Jeanne

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work and an unwavering commitment to my clients. I have always been willing to put in the effort necessary to achieve the best possible results, while treating every client with genuine care and compassion. I truly value the relationships I build and approach each client’s needs as if they were my own family, always striving to do what is best for them and ensure they receive the highest level of support and service.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received comes from the biblical verse, “Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.” I believe in giving my very best to everything I do and approaching every responsibility with dedication and purpose. When you genuinely care about your clients and want the best for them, even challenging days become meaningful, because loving the people you serve ultimately allows you to love the work you do.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to build enough financial security that you have the freedom to take calculated risks without constantly worrying about supporting yourself. Be brave, take things one day at a time, and do not allow the bigger picture to become overwhelming. Map out the steps you need to take, focus on what you can accomplish today, and make consistent progress toward your goals.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the exhaustion that can come with long hours, late nights, and weekends, particularly when trying to maintain a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and family life. At the same time, the work offers an incredibly meaningful opportunity to make a lasting difference in someone’s life. Helping clients achieve meaningful settlements can provide not only justice but also a sense of healing and closure, which makes the demands of the profession worthwhile.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, integrity, diligence, and always striving to do my very best. I believe in being sensitive to the needs and feelings of others and genuinely wanting what is best for my clients. I also believe that professionalism should be grounded in grace, compassion, and understanding rather than aggression, and I strive to approach every situation with both excellence and sensitivity.
