Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jeannette
01What do you attribute your success to?
I'd really say it is my upbringing and my background, it's being first generation and having immigrant parents. You see what their sacrifices were, and so you just always try to maintain a leg up in terms of making those sacrifices worth it. Every decision that you make, and ensuring that the decisions that you're making are taking our intention and that are making your family proud.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would really hone in on staying curious. Curiosity really just sits at this foundation of being open and willing to take on different types of work, new work, out of your quote-unquote skill sets work. It inspires you to ask questions, and to not get settled in your day-to-day, and really push not just the boundaries of where you work, but your own personal boundaries of how much you think you can intake. And then secondly, just the staying flexible. Your career might not necessarily look like what you envision. Having a very clear North Star, but along the way being okay with maybe turning a little, making a right-hand turn when you wanted to go left, and knowing there's a purpose for every job that you take.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Definitely respect. Everything that they do has to revolve around respect for anyone above you, anyone that's a direct report, down to just the front office. So I very much value respect, integrity, doing everything that you do with a lot of integrity, knowing it has your name on it, or just knowing that you're representing a company or something larger than you. Work ethic. It looks different for everyone, but acknowledge what that means to you and conducting yourself with the highest level that you can. And like I said, I think curiosity is a really big one, that I carry both professionally and personally.
