Her Story

About Jenefer

Jenefer Hatch serves as a regional human resources leader in the poultry production sector, overseeing operations across the central United States for her employer. With more than two decades of HR experience spanning multiple industries, she advanced through roles focused on hiring, employee retention, and human resource management, often relocating due to her husband's ministry work. Hatch began her education in nursing school but left short of completing a degree and has supplemented her background with numerous HR certifications and ongoing online learning. She is an active member of U.S. Ag and Poultry and ATD. Beyond her professional duties, Hatch dedicates time to initiatives supporting women in agriculture through FFA and related programs, as well as nonprofits aiding women who have experienced child loss, including the Angel Gown program and photography services. She attributes her success to supportive leaders who advocated for her and emphasizes the importance of championing others, particularly young women entering the field.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jenefer

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to leaders that had integrity. Leaders that were willing to stand in the gap and say this person is great. I think it's half of what you know and half of who you know. If you work hard and prove yourself worthy, there are people that will stand up for you. Even in my current company, other leaders lifting me up by giving credit for my work and talent.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

If you argue with a fool, nobody can tell who the fool is. Sometimes it's best just not to argue because other people are watching, especially younger women or those new in their career, and they can't tell who's right or wrong.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never let anybody tell you who you should be or what you can or can't do. If you feel it in your bones, just keep going. When you get where you're going, put your hand back down and pull someone else up with you. We need to champion each other and build a bigger table if there's not enough room.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunity is seeing more women in agriculture succeed and have a seat at the table in every position, including head of operations, head of production, and running the business side, not just administrative or traditionally female roles.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The value of simplicity. Keep it simple, whether at home or work. Our company has seven values ingrained in me, but simplicity equates to both work and personal life.
