Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jenifer
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to tenacity, resilience, and the determination to persevere through challenges. Growing up with personal adversity and experiencing the impact of mental illness within my family taught me the importance of hard work, compassion, and persistence. These experiences shaped my ability to remain focused, adapt in difficult circumstances, and continue moving forward even when faced with obstacles. I have learned that meaningful progress often requires patience, dedication, and the willingness to keep pushing forward, and those qualities have been instrumental in both my personal growth and professional success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to be intentional with my time and focus my efforts on opportunities that align with the path I want to pursue. It is important to thoughtfully consider where I invest my energy rather than simply agreeing to take on responsibilities because someone needs help. By prioritizing commitments that support my goals, values, and professional growth, I have been able to remain focused, make meaningful contributions, and continue building a career that reflects my long-term vision.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to prioritize their own well-being while pursuing their professional goals. It is important to recognize that success requires dedication, but it should not come at the expense of personal health, happiness, or fulfillment. Find balance, set boundaries, and make time to recharge so you are not constantly giving without replenishing yourself. Taking care of yourself and maintaining a healthy work-life balance allows you to bring your best self to your career, your relationships, and the people you serve.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are kindness and compassion. I believe that the way we treat others has a lasting impact, and I strive to approach every interaction with empathy, respect, and understanding. In my professional work, these values guide the way I support patients, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to the broader mental health community. Personally, kindness and compassion shape how I build relationships and navigate challenges, reminding me of the importance of showing care and consideration for others.
