01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

It's a wonderful industry. It's been challenging, and that, it's not the easiest industry, however, it is so rewarding, and if you can stick with it and learn it, there's so many opportunities, and when you finally get to the levels and achieve these things and you're in the same room with the men, and they're actually listening to you, that feeling of empowerment is just unmatched, and I want to give that to other women. It took me a very long time to get here. And I want to raise every other woman up with me that wants anything to do with insurance. Anytime I find an assistant or something that really wants to dive in and learn, I'm the first one to take them under my wing, and, like, if you show me that you're willing to learn, I'll teach you everything I know.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's definitely hard being in the business insurance world, because they are very used to the male suit and tie thing, so I don't feel that females get the respect a lot of times, and there's been times in meetings where I've had to give a male colleague who is less experienced the information to say and kind of puppet him, and it can really be tough, but I've learned that when I assert myself and show that I do have the knowledge and present myself in a way, like, I'll, you know, make sure I have on the nicest suit in the room, and I'm very well put together. So, both visually and in the way I speak, I am presenting the best version, the best opinion, my intelligence, so they're seeing that, and not that I'm just a female.
