About Jennie
Jennie Phillips is the owner of Vitality Fitness Studio in Troy, Illinois, and a national certified personal trainer specializing in corrective exercise and nutrition. She began her career as a high school biology and chemistry teacher after earning her undergraduate degree from North Central College in biology, chemistry, and education. She later pursued a master's in education from Northern Illinois University and transitioned into fitness, obtaining certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Phillips opened her own studio and authored the book Yellow Light Moments, published in March of last year, focusing on the power of pausing and intentional living. She is a member of Women Empowering Women and SCW FitPro, and supports St. Jude's through annual donations via her studio and by running marathons for the cause in 2015 and the following year. Phillips attributes her success to her supportive upbringing and advises finding joy and laughter every day.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My upbringing with parents who were always very supportive and encouraging, giving me the belief that there wasn't anything I couldn't do and that I could do hard things even if I failed.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Laugh every day and always find something that can bring joy and happiness, whether laughing at yourself, with someone else, or with a friend.
