Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jennifer
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to my parents raising me that I can do whatever I want to do. I've gone through some difficult times and lost that compass, and since relearning it, and re-seeing that, you know, that's the path I was put on, that, you know, if it's to be, it's up to me. You follow that path, and do not going to be comfortable, because that's how I become a better person.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To another young woman, I would say that, Staying silent protects the wrong people. If you feel something is off, something is wrong, that a kid is being harmed or something isn't right, speak up. If you have a kid that you don't think their educational needs are being met, don't keep that to yourself. If you truly feel that creating your own curriculum is better than what the district is providing you, do it.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Accountability is a huge one for me. Accountability and integrity. Being authentic, being open and connect and, having a sense of wonder and curiosity.
