Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance and the determination to keep moving forward, even when the path wasn’t easy. I’m most proud of sticking with my career, returning to school in my 40s, and continuing to grow professionally. I’m passionate about caring for others and am motivated to keep advancing—I’m even working toward earning my MSN to further expand my impact in nursing.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that you have to be in this field for people’s wellbeing—that reminder keeps me grounded and motivated. My mentor, Donnette Cochran, encouraged me to keep moving forward, strive to be better, and pursue my RN. Her belief in me opened doors, created opportunities, and helped shape the nurse I am today.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the nursing field is simple: you have the heart for this work, so never give up on your dreams. Keep moving forward, even when the journey gets difficult—your passion and persistence will carry you exactly where you’re meant to be.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me—both in my work and personal life—center around connection, purpose, and balance. I love spending time outdoors, especially camping, and I cherish every moment with my grandchildren. I’m also deeply passionate about supporting causes that matter, including Cancer Research foundations and the Alzheimer’s Foundation, as these issues touch so many lives and are close to my heart.
