Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jennifer
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, relationships, and a genuine passion for helping others. Over the course of my career, I have been fortunate to work in industries where the decisions we make directly impact people’s lives, and that responsibility has always motivated me to keep learning, asking better questions, and finding better ways forward.
I have experienced moments of growth, change, and reinvention that have strengthened my ability to adapt and lead with confidence. Those experiences have taught me that success is not just about achieving goals — it is about how you show up, how you treat people, and the positive impact you leave behind.
The relationships I have built with colleagues, clients, mentors, and partners have been one of the greatest contributors to my success. I believe in leading with authenticity, curiosity, and a willingness to challenge the traditional way of doing things when there is an opportunity to create something better.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is: “Always leave every person and every place better than you found it.”
That advice has guided the way I approach leadership, partnerships, and relationships throughout my career. Titles and roles may change, but the impact you have on people and the trust you build are what truly last.
I have found that the greatest opportunities often come from being willing to step outside your comfort zone, listen more than you speak, and approach challenges with a mindset of finding solutions. Staying true to your values while remaining open to growth has been one of the most important lessons of my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to embrace being a lifelong learner and have the courage to challenge the way things have always been done. Healthcare and employee benefits are industries where there is a tremendous opportunity to make a difference, but progress requires people who are willing to ask better questions and bring new ideas to the conversation.
Build relationships, find mentors, and surround yourself with people who believe in your potential. Throughout my career, I have learned that opportunities often come when you step into situations that stretch you and trust that your experience, curiosity, and perspective have value.
Do not be afraid to use your voice. Your ability to listen, connect, collaborate, and lead with empathy are strengths — and those qualities are exactly what the future of this industry needs.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in healthcare and employee benefits today is the continued rise in costs while employers and employees are often feeling like they are receiving less value. Organizations are being asked to balance affordability, access to quality care, and a positive employee experience in an increasingly complex environment.
At the same time, this challenge creates one of the greatest opportunities in our industry: the ability to rethink how healthcare is designed and delivered. Employers are becoming more open to exploring innovative strategies that improve transparency, increase access, and focus on better outcomes rather than simply accepting annual cost increases as the norm.
I believe the future of healthcare will be shaped by leaders who are willing to ask better questions, challenge traditional approaches, and bring together the right solutions to create a more sustainable system. The opportunity ahead is to move beyond managing costs and focus on creating better healthcare experiences for both employers and employees.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, family, integrity, compassion, and a commitment to making a positive impact.
My faith provides the foundation for how I approach life — guiding me to lead with humility, serve others, and remain grounded through both successes and challenges. My family is my greatest source of purpose and inspiration. They remind me of the importance of being present, staying resilient, and creating a life defined not only by professional accomplishments, but by the relationships and memories we build along the way.
In my work, integrity and authenticity are at the core of how I lead. I believe trust is earned through consistency, transparency, and doing what is right. I value building meaningful relationships, listening to others, and creating solutions that truly make a difference.
I also believe in the importance of growth and resilience. Life and careers rarely follow a perfectly defined path, but every experience provides an opportunity to learn, adapt, and become stronger. My goal is to leave every person, organization, and community I touch better than I found it.
