Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from my parents who are immigrants from Nicaragua. They taught me resilience, work ethic, and not to quit. Being first generation, they showed me what is possible.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Say yes to opportunities even if they don't make sense right away. Bet on yourself. Ask for feedback. Be teachable, approachable, and coachable. Don't let lack of a degree hold you back; focus on technical and soft skills.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Social media roles aren't just for creators in front of the camera. Consider behind-the-scenes work like data or community management. The barrier to entry isn't always a degree; seek certifications, attend conferences, network with chambers of commerce, and connect with people already in the field. Get comfortable with hearing no.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is a hot topic in the creative space. While AI is a useful tool, people will always crave human connection and creativity. Learn to use AI as a tool without letting it replace the humanity and artistic mind in the work.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity and Kaizen, which means being 1% better every day. Consistent growth over time, even in small increments, makes a big difference. Give from your overflow, not an empty cup.
