What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of experience, guidance, and the strong foundation I was fortunate to have. Growing up in the industry provided me with early exposure, and my many years working in the field have deepened my expertise. I’ve also benefited greatly from mentorship and the reputation of my father, a respected chemist, whose guidance and example have been invaluable throughout my career.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to be diligent and thorough. Do your research—test products in store, read ingredient labels carefully, and familiarize yourself with any unfamiliar ingredients. Rigorously study the market and understand your competitors. Remember that launching a product is not only a financial investment but also a reflection of your brand and your values.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is the rise of indie brands, which creates strong demand for formulation expertise and small-batch manufacturing. At the same time, there are notable challenges, including the need to adapt to the growing importance of social media and public visibility, navigate complex regulatory requirements such as OTC and FDA compliance, and address current capacity limits that necessitate expanding facilities and equipment.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me both professionally and personally are thoroughness and a commitment to research-driven development, independence and self-reliance—particularly the pride that comes from building and funding my own business—and a deep care for animals. These principles shape the decisions I make, the work I produce, and the way I engage with others.
