Her Story

About Jennifer

I truly enjoyed working with my clients in both real estate and mortgage, and I've always had a desire to help people from wherever they are to better their lives. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I had a seed planted in me many years ago to do what I'm doing now in the nonprofit sector. I really enjoy helping others, and it was given to me in a way to restore dignity to people at a time when their lives are not where they were or where they need to be. What we do is come in and fill in that gap by giving a bag filled with items that helps restore that dignity, and we also make it available for workshops or coaching. My day consists of looking at what is the next organization we can help, what is the next group of people we can help, what supplies are needed, which directors I need to set meetings with, and what is the next event coming up. I wear many hats, but because I built a very strong team, a lot of it is just me leading and putting everything in the right order while my team does a lot of the work itself.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

What I would say to someone who wanted to change from one career to doing something else is to do something where your heart is in it. It becomes easier to maneuver through that because it now does not seem like work. It seems like something that you enjoy doing, so it makes it easier.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Some of the challenges right now is getting a couple more key directives for the organization. We have to be very specific, and getting a couple key directives right now with the right qualifications would be a challenge that we're seeing.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I love people. I do. I care a lot about others, and integrity is very big for me. It's a very high value for me. Other than that is leadership. Years ago, I never thought I was a leader, but as time has passed, I've realized that that is a position, a stance that I take, but I don't always like to be upfront. The values are family, faith, integrity, and trust. Those are the values that I bring.
