About Jennifer

Jennifer Keach is an HSE Professional who has spent 16 years in the energy sector since 2010. She currently supports the Houston Metro Tech area at SLB, overseeing compliance and human performance integration across 31 technology facilities serving over 10,000 people. Her career began in the oil field as a CDL truck driver in Canada, advancing to well foam supervisor for nearly 10 years before transitioning to health, safety, and environment after a workplace injury prompted her return to education. She earned an Occupational Health and Safety degree from Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Technology, followed by associates, bachelor's, and master's degrees, plus honorary doctorates of Science in Occupational Health and Safety Management and in Resilient Safety Systems and Strategic Leadership. Keach holds certifications as a Certified Safety Professional with the BCSP and National Construction Safety Officer. She is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, sits on the NORA Committee for NIOSH and CDC, and serves as a Knights Ambassador for Columbia Southern University, where she received the Outstanding Safety Professional of the Year award in 2025 and the Iconic Facilitation Excellence Award in 2026. Her volunteer efforts include Earth Swap and American Heart Association beach cleanups. Keach values transparency and communication, advises young women to do what is right rather than what they are told, and identifies psychological safety as a key challenge in fostering cultures where people speak up.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise them to do what's right, not necessarily what you're told.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Psychological safety is a big challenge. To ensure that you're providing a culture where people feel safe enough to speak up.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Transparency and communication. They overlap both and consistently. There's no room for error.
