Jennifer’s passion for interiors began with an eye for style, a love for creativity, and a desire to help others bring spaces to life through texture, color, and design. Over the years, she has collaborated with leading designers, real estate professionals, and developers, earning a reputation for her ability to elevate both lived-in and staged environments. Her expertise spans custom furniture and finishes, construction management, remodeling, and staging homes for resale—services highly valued by real estate businesses and private clients alike.

After building her career with respected firms such as Tucker & Marks Custom Interiors, Rebecca Bradley Interior Design, Ken Fulk Inc., and West Group Real Estate, Jennifer launched Design Decorous in 2014. Her projects include staging high-end homes across California and managing design details for clients with discerning taste. Recently, she expanded her entrepreneurial vision with Owen Rose Home Consignment, a storefront in Sonoma named after her beloved dogs. The shop features an eclectic mix of home décor, art, apparel, and furniture—pieces Jennifer has carefully curated throughout her career.

Dedicated to creating beautiful, functional spaces, Jennifer continues to take on residential projects while exploring new creative ventures. Her work reflects not only her professional expertise but also her commitment to storytelling through design—bringing warmth, personality, and meaning to every space she touches.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

When I speak to young women entering the interior design industry, I always emphasize the importance of continuous learning. Design is constantly evolving, especially with the integration of new technologies like AI. I’ve even used AI to create images for a hardware company, which showed me how powerful these tools can be in enhancing the design process. Embracing change and staying adaptable is essential to building a sustainable career in this field. Over the years, I’ve gained valuable experience in property management and estate renovations, each offering me new perspectives within the business. I believe real-world experience is one of the best teachers, and I’ve built my career by seeking out opportunities to learn new niches and continually challenge myself.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Outside of my professional life, I value hobbies that keep me grounded and bring me joy. I love gardening, movies, and cooking—what I sometimes call my “grandma hobbies.” Gardening, in particular, has been shown to improve longevity, and I find it incredibly rewarding to nurture something and watch it grow. Giving back is also very important to me. I support breast cancer organizations, the Heart Association, and a local food bank. Contributing to these causes allows me to extend my passion for creating beauty and care in people’s lives beyond design, making a difference in the community around me.
