About Jennifer

Jennifer Kittredge-Hageman is an accomplished occupational health nurse and healthcare leader with extensive experience spanning trauma nursing, case management, employee health, and workplace wellness. As an Occupational Health Nurse supporting GE Aerospace in Grand Rapids, Michigan through ATI Physical Therapy's Advanced Worksite Solutions, she oversees the health and well-being of 1,000+ employees in a highly regulated aerospace environment. Her responsibilities include occupational injury management, federal drug and alcohol testing, short-term disability and workers' compensation case management, emergency response, employee counseling, and the implementation of proactive wellness initiatives that promote both physical and mental health. Jennifer's career began in traditional nursing, where she spent more than a decade within the hospital environment, home health, ambulatory care, surgical oncology, and transfer center coordination before transitioning into occupational health. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and is a Registered Nurse, combining clinical expertise with strong business acumen. Her professional credentials include Mental Health First Aid certification through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification, Breath Alcohol Train the Trainer certification, case management expertise in short-term disability and workers' compensation, and Department of Transportation and Department of Defense specimen collection certifications. She has also led impactful workplace initiatives, including developing mental health wellbeing awareness workflows and bringing awareness of the need for Narcan availability across GE Aerospace clinic locations nationwide. Beyond her professional responsibilities, Jennifer is passionate about health equity, community engagement, and empowering others through education and advocacy. She supports the Arabian Horse Industry (daughter is a competitive equestrian) and contributes to the YMCA through promotional video projects that help raise awareness and funding for community health initiatives, while also supporting organizations such as ATI Physical Therapy. Outside of work,Jennifer attributes her success to resilience, perseverance, and the strong values instilled by her parents. Guided by honesty, integrity, authenticity, and compassionate listening, she believes in understanding the root causes of challenges and creating supportive environments where individuals can thrive both personally and professionally.

01What do you attribute your success to?

Resilience, perseverance, consistent self-improvement and always maintaining a continuous curiosity and flexible mindset about life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Find something that aligns with your higher purpose, don’t just do what you feel is expected of you. Sit with yourself and think about what makes you feel a part of something larger than yourself. Find something that speaks to your soul.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Look at occupational health and all the ways you can be a nurse beyond traditional hospital roles. Nursing schools should teach about different nursing pathways.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include managing 1,000 people, time management, assessing acuity, and boundary setting. Opportunities exist for nurse consultants to help businesses structure health programs and reach employees during their workday.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being genuine, a good listener, not jumping to judgment, seeking the root cause of behavior, honesty, and integrity.
