About Jennifer
Jennifer Lahr serves as the SPD lead technician in the sterile processing department at Grand Ronde hospital, where she has worked for just over 9 years. She coordinates a team of 7 technicians, provides training, maintains quality assurance, and ensures that instruments are cleaned and sterilized using methods such as steam sterilization, high-level disinfection, or chemical sterilization with hydrogen peroxide before surgeries. Lahr holds all 4 certifications required in her field and is a member of the HSPA Foundation, known as the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association. She previously worked as an EVS lead technician in environmental services at the hospital. Her grandmother helped create the sterile processing department, inspiring her career path. Lahr aspires to advance to the role of Sterile Processing Department Manager. She also donates blood regularly, motivated by a personal experience where emergency blood transfusions saved her life.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid especially in my field, it's changing every day. And even though we try our best, mistakes will happen, but you learn from those mistakes to become a better person.
