Her Story

About Jennifer

I believe that every interaction is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. After spending more than 30 years in customer service across both the private and municipal sectors, I discovered that my greatest passion is helping people connect, communicate, and serve others with purpose.

My journey has been anything but conventional. From performing professionally as a dancer for two decades and studying Musical Theatre Performance at Sheridan College, to becoming a Distinguished Toastmaster, author, wedding officiant, and professional speaker, each chapter has taught me the value of authenticity, adaptability, and human connection.

In late 2025, I retired from municipal service to fully embrace my purpose: inspiring individuals and organizations to elevate their customer service, communication, and leadership through practical strategies and engaging storytelling. Through my "Back to Basics Customer Service Solutions", I help teams rediscover the simple yet powerful principles that create exceptional experiences.

Whether I am speaking from a stage, facilitating a workshop, officiating a wedding ceremony, or mentoring others, my goal is always the same—to help people feel seen, heard, valued, and empowered.

I am proud to be a lifelong learner, a passionate advocate for service excellence, and someone who believes that influence is not measured by titles, but by the positive impact we have on others every day.

Ten minutes with Jennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my resilience and hard work but also to my ability to see a goal, and work towards achieving it. When I set my mind to doing something, I manage to make it come to fruition.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Learn by doing. This is a simple yet powerful message I received from the district director of Toastmasters.

This applies in your work life, personal life and life in general. We are not born knowing how to walk or talk. We learn by doing. Be brave enough to accept new challenges, roles and responsibilities and have a willingness to learn from others in order to grow.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advise to young women entering ANY industry is (1) believe in your abilities and your innate skills (2) do something every day that grows you (3) be open to assistance, knowledge and guidance of those who know more than you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My current challenge is shifting into my next chapter as a speaker and trainer and discovering the nuances of self-employment blended with retirement. My new challenge is exposure to opportunity and stages where my messages, experience and expertise can hold the most value.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, humility, honesty and a dash of humour.
