Jennifer McDowell is a strategic finance and operations executive with more than 26 years of experience helping organizations improve financial transparency, optimize costs, and make informed business decisions. Her expertise spans corporate procurement, management accounting, product profitability, cost modeling, technology portfolio finance, cloud expense management, and business process optimization. During her 18-year career at Comerica Bank, she held progressive leadership roles that strengthened procurement operations, improved financial governance, and enabled data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Throughout her career, McDowell has led initiatives that delivered measurable business value through innovation and analytical excellence. She developed enterprise cost analytics and product profitability models that enhanced strategic decision-making while reducing software costs by leveraging internal resources and capabilities. She also played a key role in technology portfolio finance, implementing cloud cost management strategies, improving expense transparency, and streamlining financial systems to support organizational growth. Her ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights has made her a trusted partner to executive leaders and cross-functional teams.
McDowell earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a focus on Industrial Organizational Management from Michigan State University and has continued to expand her expertise through professional certifications, including AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and Technology Business Management. After dedicating more than 18 years to Comerica Bank, she is currently taking a purposeful sabbatical to reflect on her career and prepare for her next leadership opportunity. 01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be courageous and ask a lot of questions. Be curious. Learn the process, but always be looking for the opportunity to improve. My least favorite thing to hear is we've always done it that way.
