Her Story

About Jennifer

Jennifer Miller is a luxury event designer who began doing private events two years ago and built her business from the ground up. She runs her own luxury tea party company, where she creates mood boards, sources design elements, and produces flower arrangements in-house at the downtown LA flower market to ensure full creative control. Previously, she worked as a customer success manager in early-stage startups while raising her daughter as a single mom. Miller attributes her success to deciding on her path and viewing challenges as part of the journey rather than obstacles. She values doing things thoroughly without cutting corners, a principle that translates from her personal life to her professional work in luxury event design.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute a lot of my success to simply making up my mind about what I wanted and fully committing to it. Once you decide that this is the path you’re going to take, challenges stop feeling like signs that you should quit and start becoming problems you’re meant to solve along the way. For me, everything shifted the moment I decided I was going all in.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to start before you feel ready. Most of the biggest opportunities in my career came from being willing to figure things out as I went, rather than waiting until I had the perfect plan, experience, or resources. Confidence often comes after you take the leap, not before.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The most important quality you can develop is self-confidence. The luxury industry can be incredibly intimidating, but when you trust your abilities and understand the value you bring to the table, you walk into rooms knowing you belong there. Invest in whatever strengthens that confidence, whether that means honing your craft, deepening your expertise, or surrounding yourself with women who reflect where you’re trying to go.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of my biggest challenges has been turning visibility into the right kind of clientele. My work naturally attracts a lot of attention, especially on social media, but a large audience doesn’t always translate into the right customers. Right now, I’m focused on exploring different marketing strategies and channels that allow me to reach people who not only appreciate the work, but are also the right fit for the experiences we create.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

One of the values I live by is that the way you do one thing is the way you do everything. I don’t believe in cutting corners or doing things halfway. If I’m going to do something, I want to do it thoughtfully and to the best of my ability. That standard is part of who I am personally, and it naturally carries into my work and the level of care I bring to every detail.
