Her Story

About Jennifer

Jennifer Powell serves as CEO of Powell Studio Beauty + Wellness LLC, which she founded in 2015 in Hanover, Massachusetts. Bringing more than 22 years of nursing experience and advanced nurse practitioner credentials earned in 2024, Powell has built a career centered on compassionate patient care, clinical excellence, and innovative approaches to health and wellness. Her professional journey began at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where she worked on a neurology and gastric bypass step-down unit before joining South Shore Hospital. There, she gained experience in the neonatal intensive care unit and emergency room while also serving as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, responding to cases at hospitals throughout the Boston area. Powell later advanced to become the Central Massachusetts Regional Coordinator for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners Program, where she oversaw approximately 30 nurses across five sites and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to provide education, clinical support, and comprehensive services to patients. Her extensive healthcare background includes expertise in emergency nursing, pediatrics, phlebotomy, medication administration, nursing education, and patient advocacy. Following her own health challenges after having five children, Powell became increasingly interested in moving beyond traditional reactive healthcare and addressing the underlying factors that influence long-term health. This experience ultimately inspired her to establish Powell Studio and develop the Powell Performance Program, a prevention-focused approach emphasizing comprehensive testing, root-cause resolution, wellness, and longevity. Today, Powell combines her clinical expertise with advanced training in aesthetics, functional medicine, and personalized wellness to help clients achieve meaningful and sustainable health outcomes. Her aesthetic expertise includes neurotoxins, dermal fillers, ZO Skin Health skincare, IPL, laser hair and vein removal, nutrient IV hydration, and laser skin rejuvenation, while her broader wellness work incorporates genetics and functional medicine. She maintains professional memberships with I-SPAN and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and holds certifications in aesthetic nursing, genetics, functional medicine, and advanced regenerative and aesthetic treatments. Powell is guided by the principles of bringing her best self to every professional interaction, remaining solution-focused, and understanding the underlying “why” behind each individual's health goals so she can deliver thoughtful, personalized, and meaningful outcomes.

Ten minutes with Jennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to curiosity, compassion, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping people feel better and live healthier lives. Throughout my 22 years as a registered nurse and my career as a nurse practitioner, I have remained willing to learn, adapt, and explore new approaches to patient care. My experiences across emergency medicine, neonatal intensive care, sexual assault nursing, leadership, aesthetics, and wellness have taught me the importance of listening closely, advocating for others, and looking at the whole person rather than focusing solely on symptoms. I have also learned to trust my instincts, embrace challenges, and continually seek knowledge that can improve the outcomes I provide. Ultimately, my success comes from combining clinical experience with compassion, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the belief that empowering people with knowledge and personalized care can create lasting, meaningful change.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is that passion alone is not enough to build a successful and sustainable career. I learned the importance of understanding the business behind my profession, particularly when I was building my own practice and had to develop a strong understanding of finances, strategy, and long-term planning. The guidance and mentorship I received taught me to connect the work I love with a business model that supports growth without compromising quality or patient care. I have also learned to remain curious, seek out different perspectives, and never be afraid to question whether something truly aligns with my values and goals. That advice continues to shape how I lead, make decisions, and mentor other healthcare professionals today.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering healthcare and entrepreneurship is to first identify the people you genuinely want to help and the problems you are most passionate about solving. You do not have to be everything to everyone, and I encourage you to resist the pressure to follow every trend or compare yourself to others. Build your career around your strengths, your ideal clients, and a clear purpose, while also taking the time to understand the business side of your profession, including finances, pricing, expenses, and long-term strategy. Most importantly, trust your vision and do not lose confidence when others do not immediately understand or support it. Stay solution-oriented, remain open to learning, and remember that clarity about your “why” will help you make intentional decisions and create meaningful, sustainable impact.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in healthcare today is that the industry often focuses on reacting to problems rather than preventing them. I saw this firsthand throughout my clinical career, which ultimately motivated me to create a space where I could have a more proactive impact through wellness, prevention, and longevity. I believe the greatest opportunity is to educate people about their health before they reach a point of chronic illness or crisis and to help them take meaningful action earlier. I also see tremendous potential in healthcare professionals embracing collaboration over competition by sharing knowledge, learning from one another, and working together to create better outcomes.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are authenticity, compassion, confidence, and being solution-oriented. I believe in leaving complications at the door, showing up as my best self, and staying true to what I know is right. I try to focus on solutions rather than problems and remain confident in my vision, even when others may not yet be ready to understand or embrace it. Most importantly, I believe in understanding the “why” behind everything I do, because when the purpose is clear, it allows me to create the “wow” for the people I serve.
