Her Story
About Jennifer
Jennifer Rice serves as one of many hotel operations managers at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. She began her career in hotel operations in 2013 as a front desk agent at the Encore, where she worked for about two years before moving to SLS Las Vegas to assist with the property's opening for a year and a half. Rice then joined the Golden Nugget as an assistant front desk manager, advancing to sales coordinator and VIP manager. After a period in Wyoming serving as assistant general manager at the Hampton Inn, convention services manager at the Wart Hotel, and director of guest services for roughly four years, she returned to Las Vegas. She worked at The D for about a year and then at Nobu Hotel before transferring internally to her current role at Caesars Palace in February. Rice earned a bachelor's degree in microbiology from UNLV. She is a past member of Alpha Gamma Delta and the Jackson Hole Visitors Committee, and she has participated in Heroes events at Caesars Palace and Three Squares at Encore. Rice credits her success to mentors including Michael Toney at the Golden Nugget, who guided her into sales, and her current manager Trammy Wynn, who has taught her about reports and luxury standards. She advises young women entering the industry to prioritize guest services and personal connections with guests.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jennifer
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute it to my mentors. Michael Toney over at the Golden Nugget was an absolute godsend who pulled me into sales and taught me tactics that helped me break records. My current manager Trammy Wynn has been an angel teaching me how reports are supposed to be run and what the standard of luxury really is.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For someone that's just getting started in their career, guest services means everything. Try to ensure that each guest feels personally touched and taken care of, because connections are everything nowadays. Making that connection with your guest will take you so much further in life.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The greatest challenges are getting guests to return. Vegas has changed tremendously with casino comps being crazy high, so many VIPs, and people dressing more casually in jeans instead of mink coats. People want everything but don't spend anything, and many are going to attractions like hiking or conventions rather than the casino floors.
