She also works as an office manager and payroll specialist for another organization, overseeing payroll, invoicing, billing, banking, scheduling, and addressing customer concerns. With payroll experience dating back to 2021, her career includes 23 years at General Motors before an injury prompted a transition to new fields through dedicated on-the-job training. She holds a high school diploma and pursued college studies in accounting without completing the degree. Jennifer is a Notary Public and active member of the Notary Association, continually seeking to expand her skills, including pursuing tax preparation licensing. She attributes her professional drive to hard work and determination developed after becoming a single mother, motivated by the desire to provide for her son and demonstrate the value of perseverance.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work and determination after becoming a single mother when my husband was murdered. I was forced into a situation where I had to provide for my child at a young age, and I knew I had to do my best in whatever field I got into. The drive came from wanting to show my son that with hard work and determination, you can become anything you want to be. I didn't want to fail him or go on the system, so I kept striving and never settled for less.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice is that finding your passion and what you're good at is more important than a degree. On-the-job training is key because you become more passionate and succeed when learning hands-on, rather than just going to school for a field.
